winter comes

winter comes and brings
a cold calmness

while the natural world goes to sleep
we fight the darkness with caffeinated warmth

red and green expectations bring
awkwardness and false generosity

fighting urges of hibernation
and nostalgia for the ghosts of lifetimes past

as the silver ball drops
we examine life and instigate changes

from the bundle of fleece blankets and earl grey fog
longing for the birth of spring with all its newness

overlooking the present
neglecting the beauty of still life

forgetting the Now deserves
more credit than i give the future

I like you, Erica. I like reading your thoughts. Not reading your thoughts so much as reading the thoughts that you write. You know what I mean =o)
